About Us
Champlain Community Services (CCS), Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation, established in 1967 and incorporated in 1973.
Founded by families of people with intellectual disabilities and autism, CCS is a true grassroots organization that emerged as a nationally-recognized leader in its field.
The individuals and families we work with enjoy a strong sense of community and support at CCS. Still “small enough to be intentional,” we’ve crafted a unique model of mutual responsibility and belonging that we project to the broader community.
We envision a community where *everyone participates and everyone belongs. *Communities that recognize and value all of its members and resources are the healthiest and most productive. We encourage self-advocacy and deep engagement with community for our consumers, and work to build strong partnerships with businesses, organizations, and neighbors to realize that vision.
Champlain Community Services provides essential supports to people with intellectual disabilities and autism, building a community where everyone participates and everyone belongs.
Champlain Community Services (CCS), firmly believes the foundation of a successful business is employees who feel supported, valued, and listened to.
We have created a work culture where employees feel comfortable giving critical feedback because there is follow through when suggestions are made. Our doors are always open at CCS and we are sincerely open to hearing feedback. CCS formally honors long-term employees and provides “welcome interviews” to new staff to gather feedback and make sure everything is working well. We want to make sure all levels of staff feel like they have a voice and know they are part of the greater organizational health.
Our team is a jovial bunch where laughter is often part of the background noise. We enjoy getting together for our monthly meetings, our annual in-service day and, in particular, our annual All Staff Retreat that focuses on building connections with each other and sharing our connection to CCS’ mission and core values. We always leave the retreat a closer group of people.
CCS understands that work-life balance is crucial to staff wellbeing, we check-in with staff on a regular basis, and offer support and resources when needed. Perhaps most importantly, employees know that they, as individuals, matter to the organization.
Our mission guides us to ‘Build a Community Where Everyone Participates and Belongs’ and we have created such a space within CCS.
